Our Mission
In a world of disposable products and planned obsolescence, we believe there's a better way. Lifetime Picks curates the most durable, long-lasting products recommended by the r/BuyItForLife community on Reddit — a community of over 2 million members dedicated to finding products that truly last.
We don't accept paid placements. Every product on Lifetime Picks earned its spot through genuine community recommendations and positive ownership experiences.
How Our Ranking Works
1. Reddit Positive Mentions
We analyze posts and comments on r/BuyItForLife to count how often each product is mentioned. But raw mention count isn't enough — we use sentiment analysis to distinguish positive recommendations from complaints. Only positive, high-satisfaction mentions count toward ranking.
2. Satisfaction Score (0-100%)
Each product receives a satisfaction score calculated from:
- • 60% weight: Ratio of positive to total Reddit mentions
- • 40% weight: Average upvote score of mentioning posts (normalized)
Products with 95%+ satisfaction score get the "Top Rated" badge.
3. Amazon Rating & Reviews
We cross-reference with Amazon ratings and review counts. We extract pros and cons from review patterns to give you a balanced view of each product.
4. Amazon Sales Rank & Popularity
We track Amazon Best Seller rankings to show real-world buying patterns. A product that's both highly recommended on Reddit AND a top seller on Amazon carries extra credibility.
5. Price Tracking
We track prices over time and flag when products are at or near their lowest price. We also link to CamelCamelCamel for detailed price history and highlight available coupons.
